A WW2 British folding trench saw by Sheffield maker Francis Wood and Co ( Est. 1854, Henry St, Sheff )

The saw is dated 1944 ( Normandy D day Landings year ) and is marked with British Army issue Broad Arrow (As is the pouch)

The folding trench saw is a cleaver and compact tool which was first introduced into the British Army in October 1907

An infantry Battalion in 1914 had 32 of these issued ( 8 per company )

This WW2 example is in excellent usable condition with its original screw together beech handles and heavy duty canvas pouch ( set tool and file are absent )

With a significant year date and Manufactured - now quite hard to find

A great piece of field kit
