Very Rare U.S. Vietnam War 1st Pattern Tropical Jacket

This is a rare 1st Pattern Tropical Field Jacket which was introduced on 20th June 1963 and based on the M1942 WW2 era Paratroopers jump jacket

It only remained in production to August 1964 where a modification was introduced

Which lead to the 2nd Pattern, which did away with Expose pocket buttons replacing them with concealed pocket buttons

A further modification was introduced in March 1968 with the removal of the shoulder epualettes

The design of this 1st Pattern retains all its original insignia of the 173rd Airborne brigade and the unit patch of the military assistance command

The rank insignia is of a specialist, it also retains the original owners name qualification jump wings and combat infantry badge ( CIB )

The jacket has suffered with some minor damage to just above the cuffs with a number of rips

It also has a couple of holes just to the front lower skirt of the jacket

However it retains its instruction label

Size appears to be a medium to large
